Cockburn Gateway
Cockburn Gateway Shopping City is proud to share our environmental initiatives and achievements with you. Not only does the centre act in an environmentally conscious way, many of our retailers participate in similar programs. Here are just some our achievements:
Battery Recycle Program
Feel free to drop off household batteries to the Information Desk or Centre Management Office. We recycle these batteries through the City of Cockburn Recycle Program.
Fashion Recycle Campaign
During Winter 2009 we donated over 100kgs of winter clothing to the Salvation Army. We again ran the recycle program and donated a further 90kgs during Winter 2010.
School Holiday Activities
Children were invited to visit the Recycled Tin Can Herb Garden workshop during April 2010. Kids potted their own herb to take home and over 1,000 kids visited the activity centre in just one week. This meant that 1,070 tin cans did not go to landfill and thank you to our food court retailers and students from Hamilton Senior High School who donated some of these cans.
Did You Know?
During December 2009, Cockburn Gateway Shopping City recycled 17.82 tonnes of cardboard and paper materials. This is the equivalent weight of 10 cars. These materials did not go to the land fill.
Plus, all of the cleaning materials used by our onsite cleaning contractors are environmentally friendly.
